Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How long is a physical therapy visit?

Your first visit or initial evaluation is 1 hour; follow up visits are 30-45 minutes depending on your particular needs.

  2. Is physical therapy painful?

The short answer is NO. Our therapists do not use a “no pain, no gain” philosophy. We don't “crank on knees” or tell you to “suck it up.” It is a common misconception that physical therapy hurts! Our job is to make you feel better, so any discomfort involved in that process should be 100% worth it and 100% okay with you.

  3. What should I wear for physical therapy?

This will depend upon the problem being evaluated. Patients with a shoulder impairment should wear or bring a tank top or sleeveless shirt. Hip, knee, and/or ankle patients should wear or bring shorts. Back patients should also bring or wear shorts. In order to thoroughly evaluate our back and shoulder patients, male patients, if comfortable, may be asked to remove their shirts. We will provide gowns with an opening in the back for our female patients. Wearing the appropriate clothing will help our physical therapists thoroughly evaluate each patient. In many cases we will not only evaluate the immediate area of your symptoms, but we will also examine the areas surrounding this region in order to assess the root of the problem.

  4. Do I need a doctor’s script for Physical Therapy?

No. Colorado is a direct access state, meaning you do not need to see a doctor before a physical therapist. However, several insurances require a doctor’s script in order to cover physical therapy costs; this includes Medicare.

  5. What insurances do you accept?

We accept most major insurances including Medicare, Anthem Blue Cross, Cigna, UC Health, United, UMR, Rocky Mountain, Pinnacol, and many other private or workman’s compensation companies. Your insurance may also have out of network options. Please call 970-327-4567 or email info@motionsensept.com if you have questions about your insurance.

  6. What does it cost if I have no insurance or a high deductible?

Our self pay rate is $105 for a 1 hour initial evaluation and $65 for 30 minute follow up visits.

  7. How many physical therapy visits will I need?

The number of visits is dependent upon your initial diagnosis. The therapist will discuss the appropriate frequency and approximate duration at the time of the initial evaluation. The therapist will complete reassessments during the course of your therapy to help track individual progress. This information will help the therapist make informed decisions regarding the course of your therapy as well as an appropriate discharge date.

  8. What type of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, check, or credit cards.
