Fitness while stuck at home

We’re all spending more time at home right now. Maybe we’re working from home, maybe not. Maybe we are the new full time day care for our kids, maybe not. Maybe we are working from home and watching our kids. Point is, most of use are still busy and especially now, having a hard time staying fit since we’re out of our normal routines. The gym is closed, the alpine hasn’t melted out and we’re staying close to home so going to the desert is limited.

I don’t know about you but I have an easier time being efficient with my time and staying motivated if I have a plan. In comes local fitness coaching program, Uphill Athlete based out of Ridgway, CO (But largely internet based). They specialize in training for the outdoor athlete (Read their article: Strength training for the mountain athlete). You can purchase one of their more targeted and detailed programs for ski touring, mountaineering, rock or ice climbing. Uphill Athlete also offers customized programing as well. Right now they have released free exercise programs for Rainier, Denali or Everest, as well as, a couple others. Though none of use will likely be climbing these mountains anytime soon, the programs are excellent for base fitness. Especially if you are tight with time and only have basic or limited exercise equipment at home.

I suggest checking out the programs if you are struggling with motivation or a plan:

Rainier/Denali/Everest Program

Rock climbing Program

Muscular Endurance Program
